As an ISR Company, MDA has delivered a number of large operational intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions to defence departments in Canada, Australia, and other government customers around the world.

The Position(s):

The Site Manager is responsible for all aspects of MDA UAV operations for a small to medium sized team comprising of pilots, technicians & maintenance crew as a part of an overseas mission on a rotation of 8 weeks on 4 weeks off.

Primary Activities
Responsibilities:
The UAV Site Manager is the coordinating authority for all operations, maintenance, and liaison with the regional based customer, subcontractors, and other activities at the operations site. You are responsible to the MDA Operations Manager for ensuring daily operational tasking is met in a safe and efficient manner. As the senior MDA representative you will ensure that Airworthiness standards are met and that staff are compliant with all applicable rules and regulations both operationally and at the work site. Other responsibilities include personnel management, operations scheduling, and base coordination for operations and facilities maintenance. As the Site Manager, you will be familiar with all aspects for the safe and efficient conduct of the UAV operations. You are the primary point-of-contact for any flight safety related occurrences or issues arising from operations. You will prepare and distribute daily operations reports to the MDA Operations Manager and other personnel and identify any deficiencies or situations that are developing that could impact operational tasking. You will also coordinate and provide briefings to facility visitors. The Site manager ensures that all on-site staff follow the MDA and supported organization's code of conduct.

Candidate Profile
Experience and Skills Required:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience in a flight supervisory role
  • Strong management skills
  • Experience in military flying operations both local and deployed
  • UAV experience an asset
  • Willing to be trained and committed to the task
  • Experience working with both small and large teams

Schedule :

Following formal technical training and pre-deployment training, the contract will be up to 4 years on rotational deployment to MDA operational sites.

Comments/Special Considerations:

Must be able to gain a secret security clearance.
