Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is seeking a champion with significant management and leadership experience to join our Long-Term Care department.
The Manager, Long-Term Care participates in the implementation of strategic objectives and operational plans to provide effective and efficient delivery of long-term care that meets Northern Health's policies and health priorities. The position is responsible for providing leadership in the planning, delivery and evaluation of services for all assigned sites and programs.
This is a 6-month initial assignment, with the possibility of an extension.
Starting salary will be approximately from $129,557 to $159,875 and will be based on education, training, experience, reporting structure and salaries of similar positions.
Bulkley Lodge is a stand-alone, long-term care home located in central Smithers, approximately five minutes from Bulkley Valley District Hospital. There are 53 beds including two respite beds plus three short stay beds. Bulkley Lodge provides daily therapeutic recreation services. Pastoral and spiritual services are provided by the Smithers Ministerial Group with regular, on-site spiritual care. There is a volunteer program in place to facilitate resident participation in social activities and outings. There is also an on-site, integrated community Adult Day Program, operating 7 days a week.
Smithers Smithers is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges which provide a backdrop for the town's Alpine setting. The main industries include forestry, tourism, transportation and agriculture. Smithers offers affordable housing and natural splendor that support a balanced lifestyle. The population of Smithers is approximately 6,000, with an additional 5,000 from the surrounding communities that access services. There are three elementary schools, one secondary school, one alternate format school for grades 9-12 and Coast Mountain College. Check out Smithers where there is always something new to experience.

Qualfications
• Baccalaureate Degree in a relevant discipline plus five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive leadership in a position responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of operational and strategic plans, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of the operations of Long-Term Care Services, Dementia Care services, and Therapeutic Recreation programs, including a broad understanding of clinical theory and practice within a person-centered model of care.
• Knowledge of local and regional community health issues including a general understanding of a Primary Health Care Model of service delivery.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and delegate.
• Ability to promote team building while understanding that decisive action is required.
• Ability to find creative solutions to problems and to develop alternative strategies to support quality improvement initiatives.
• Positive problem-solving skills in a dynamic unionized work environment.
• Computer proficiency.
