Job Description Summary

The Knowledge Management Specialist works with many stakeholders across the company to define and encourage the usage of guidelines and systems for the creation, management, and retirement of internal content, and the organization of that content as a knowledge base that supports internal education and knowledge sharing.

An ideal candidate understands principles of knowledge management, including best practices for terminology development, metadata management, search optimization, and how to develop guidelines and educate others in implementing guidelines for content management.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with stakeholders across the company to understand their requirements for content management guidelines, processes, roles, responsibilities, and systems.
  • Develop and propose solutions to requirements for content management across the company.
  • Identify and educate key authors across the company, and build work routines and processes to ensure they actively promote best content management practices in their teams.
  • Develop guidelines for the creation, management, and retirement of content developed internally across the company.
  • Support the requirements definition and teams working on the implementation of content management systems and system components, and integrations with other systems in the company.
  • Support the enrichment and migration of existing content into the company-wide content management system.
  • Support the transition to a searchable knowledge base, with an integrated terminology, coherent metadata, and explore opportunities for more complex structuring of mature content (e.g., business rules reflecting stable business processes).
  • Communicate changes in content management guidelines, processes, content structure (terminology, metadata), as well as of the long and short term plans for these changes.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Bachelor of Life Sciences, Computer Science, or Information Systems Management.
  • 6+ years of experience in content management in organizations, and creation of content that describes work instructions, business processes, business terminology.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior management, external providers, business partners, etc. to achieve objectives; champions best practice, quality management and long-term sustainability.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and ability to work in an autonomous environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong relationships with the ability to strategically partner cross-functionally and globally to advance strategic direction of the business.
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; communicates in a clear, concise and organized manner; listens to others to obtain information.
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Suite.
