Overview of the Opportunity:

At WSP our Ecology / EIA team is providing environmental and archaeological services to position WSP as a leader in the market. We're looking for an Archaeologist to join our Environment team, located at any of our offices in British Columbia. Reporting to the Team Lead, Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment, with day to day direction of the Team Lead, Archaeology and Cultural Heritage, you will participate in participate in archaeological project work throughout BC.

A day in the life:

•As an Archaeological Field Supervisor/ Director, you will participate in or supervise Archaeological Impact Assessments, Preliminary Field Reconnaissance, and Site Alterations;
•You will supervise field work;
•You will assist with Site forms;
•You will assist with artifact analysis and cataloguing;
•You will assist with reporting.
•You will assist in proposal writing;
•You will perform background research and analysis, including consultation with government agencies;
•You will assist in delivery of high quality reports on time and within budget, drawing upon technical and scientific knowledge, training and experience;
•You will work within a team environment and communicate effectively with all levels of staff;
•You will be involved in urban, rural and remote field work where travel will be required;
•Other duties as assigned/required.

We'd love to hear from you if you...

•Are eligible to work in Canada;
•Possess a valid class 5 BC driver's license;
•Have a minimum 3-5 years' experience working in British Columbia as an archaeologist;
•Possess an undergraduate degree in archaeology or anthropology with a specialization in archaeology;
•Experience in completing regulatory documentation and reporting per BC archaeology guidelines;
•Are working towards fulfilling (or have fulfilled) the Archaeology Branch criteria listed in Bulletin 17 to qualify as a Field Director.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:

•Northwest Coast or Interior field directorship, in good standing with the Archaeology Branch of British Columbia, or eligible to acquire;
•Graduate degree in archaeology;
•Experience with QGIS/ARCGIS;
•First Aid Level 1, Wildlife awareness is considered an asset.
