Junior & Intermediate Building Electrical Design Engineers: Harvey 2221

We are currently looking for Junior & Intermediate Building Electrical Design Engineers, with electrical engineering knowledge, and CAD skills, for new and exciting commercial and institutional building projects.                                                                                                                                 

As part of a team, you will help design innovative spaces and important infrastructure projects for communities, such as hospitals, research labs, office buildings, fitness centres, pools, hotels, schools and restaurants.

You will also play a key role in sustainable building design to meet energy efficiency and carbon reduction targets.                                                                                                                                

We are a single-disciplinary firm focused on designing electrical, lighting, and technology systems for buildings, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to a Project Manager and as part of a team, you will contribute to designing a building’s electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, and communications.             

Your responsibilities include drafting and modeling (in AutoCAD and Revit), ensuring electrical design details are integrated into the working drawings.

What you’ll do:

  • Work under the direction of a Project Manager to develop construction document packages in AutoCAD & Revit

  • Work under the direction of Lighting Designers to develop and verify lighting models to support construction packages

  • Provide support for plotting and sending of electronic file submission

  • Research to source equipment and other vendors

  • Oversee construction and completion process

  • Liaise with Architects, Interior Designers and other professionals

  • Other duties assigned as necessary

    You will work on a broad range of projects that may include office tenant improvements, recreational facilities, hotels, educational institutions and industrial buildings.                      

    You will have the opportunity to complete projects independently with support from senior staff.

    Working conditions are primarily in-office from 8:00am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and occasionally at construction sites (observation).

    Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering

  • At least 2 year plus of work experience (may include Co-op) for the Junior Electrical Designer role

  • At least five years of work experience for the Intermediate Electrical Designer/Engineer role

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to quickly absorb and use company-specific techniques, standards and procedures

  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with client and other disciplines (Architectural, Mechanical, etc.)

  • Detail-oriented with excellent grammar and punctuation skills

  • Ability to work within a team environment

  • Organized and able to prioritize various tasks and have a flexible approach to assignments

  • Willingness to meet quick deadlines and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Must have working experience with Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM)

  • Experience in the construction industry, with electrical projects associated with buildings

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and various other construction documentation

  • Knowledge of industry specific codes and standards (CEC, ASHRAE, VBBL, BCBC, NECB, etc.)

  • LEED certification

     

    This is a fulltime position

    Salary is open depending on experience
