The Opportunity

Build the Future with Us - As a Junior Hazardous Materials Technician, you'll play a hands-on role supporting environmental and building sciences projects that protect people, property, and communities. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to grow your technical skills while working alongside experienced professionals on meaningful, real-world projects.

Your Impact
  • Support hazardous materials surveys and assessments in buildings and field environments.
  • Collect samples for asbestos, metals (e.g. lead), PCBs, microbials, and other hazardous substances.
  • Contributing to the development of hazardous materials management plans, safe work procedures, abatement specifications, and exposure control plans.
  • Conducting hazardous materials condition assessments.
  • Conducting hazardous material abatement/remediation inspections and air monitoring
  • Prepare equipment, materials, and documentation for fieldwork and site visits.
  • Accurately record field observations, measurements, and sample information.
  • Follow established health, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
  • Contribute to clear, organized technical records and reports.
  • Collaborate with project teams to meet schedules and client expectations.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Diploma or certificate in environmental sciences, occupational health, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of relevant field or technical experience.
  • Valid WorkSafeBC Level S Asbestos Certificate.
  • Formal training on hazardous materials such as asbestos, metals, PCB, and microbials.
  • Willingness and ability to perform fieldwork regularly and wear PPE.
  • Willingness to work out of town for field work two to three weeks a month.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $60,100 - $79,600
MB & ON: $54,800 - $75,400
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $54,200 - $72,000
