General Fusion is transforming how the world is energized by developing the first commercially viable fusion power plant. Fusion will deliver clean, safe and on-demand power at industrial scale, providing a powerful complement to renewables and a pathway to a zero-emission grid.

Combining new technologies, proven industrial processes, and advances in fundamental fusion science, General Fusion aims to be the first in the world to develop commercial fusion power. Key performance requirements have been demonstrated at the system level, setting the stage for building a pre-commercial fusion power prototype.

Position Overview:

General Fusion is currently searching for a Junior Accountant, in a 6-month contract position, to support ongoing growth and expansion as we continue to gear up towards the construction of our Fusion Demonstration Plant.   Reporting the Controller, this role will support the Finance team in all facets of Financial Reporting.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review / Support finance team in posting and processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
  • Support the NetSuite implementation with a target go live in Q1 with the following:
    • Data cleansing
    • Scenario testing and documentation
    • Reconciliation and audit of data transfers
    • Learning ERP processes and support to IT/Finance/Procurement teams on training staff
    • Data entry (items, vendors, purchase orders)
    • Company credit card reconciliations and report assembly
    • Support finance team with month end reporting procedures including report compilations, and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Process employee expense reports and corporate credit cards and assist accounts payable with general invoice processing
    • Support to procurement team on purchase order data entry, receipt matching, and workflow tracking
    • Support to finance team on year end audit
    • Support to finance team on other ad hoc projects

 

Relevant Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • 1-3 years of experience working with an accounting department or in a public practice firm.
  • Self-motivated, career-oriented individual with an affinity to grow their professional career.
  • A CPA candidate or someone looking to get into the CPA program can fit this role.
  • Undergraduate degree with an accounting focus with a desire to pursue an accounting career.
  • Advanced excel user
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written
  • Excellent attention to detail and a passion for systems and data quality
  • Preference given for experience using an ERP, preferably in the “procure to pay” cycle
  • Self-starter – this is a new role created to support the finance team in a significant growth phase, so the candidate needs to adapt to changing priorities and look for ways to contribute.
