The Software Engineer will be responsible for contributing to the development team's successful implementation of new software and maintenance of existing systems ensuring that the established standards of functionality, reliability, usability and performance. The successful candidate will coordinate with the Quality Assurance team in order to create production grade software, work with the lead engineer, development managers and Product team to devise forward thinking solutions to complex problems, support release teams for deployments to Production & help the technical Operations teams better optimize the application server for optimal production performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Write & maintain production grade code complete with unit, integration and load tests.
  • Ensure optimal code coverage and code quality with every delivery
  • Work with lead engineer and / or development manager, product, quality assurance and technical operations to release code to Production. Participate in daily scrum meetings.
  • Work with dev leads and managers to come up with realistic estimates and able to plan self-work on a daily basis with consciousness of deadlines and commitments
  • Evaluate and/or implement tools needed for achieving continuous deployment
  • Produce quality documentation for any features, APIs and enhancements using common sense & optimal approaches
  • Introduce & implement new ideas and tools geared to create better software that runs optimally in Production

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong proficiency using Java, Core Spring Framework, MVC Frameworks such as Spring MVC, Hibernate and JPA
  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms and design patterns (GoF)
  • Knowledge & passion for distributed computing and public cloud tools
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in a software development role using Java as the primary programming language in a Linux application server environment building Production grade software
  • Experience with building APIs and sound knowledge of REST principles
  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational database design principles and transaction management
  • Experience with agile, test-driven development
  • Experience with version control, build, deploy and test automation tools namely Git, Maven, Jenkins, Junit/TestNG, Cucumber or similar tools
  • Some Experience in building cloud-native production-grade applications on AWS, using AWS managed services such as S3 and Simple Workflow and Micro service Architecture
  • A working knowledge of at least one Java enterprise application server (Tomcat, JBoss, Glassfish, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with BI Tools such as Tableau is desired
  • Experience with Reactive design patterns and Reactive frameworks like Vert.x, RxJava, Akka
  • Some experience with Node and related frameworks such as Express
  • Working knowledge of HTML/HTML5, CSS & JavaScript
  • Some experience troubleshooting SaaS production issues
  • Experience with messaging systems like Kafka, SQS, Zookeeper
  • Experience with non-relational databases such as Redis, Neo4J and Cassandra
