The Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training provides leadership and direction for post-secondary education and skills training systems in British Columbia as well as the dissemination of labour market information and the delivery of labour market training programs. The Ministry plays a key role in helping British Columbians from every background and region to have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The Technology and Business Transformation Branch provides a range of information technology and information management services for the Ministry. The Branch works closely with the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) to ensure that ministry plans and initiatives are aligned with government's overall technology direction and standards. Services provided include an IT Helpdesk, advice and support on protecting and optimizing the ministry's information assets, and services and strategies relating to infrastructure and application management, workstations and devices, enterprise architecture, and business analysis. As Senior Systems Security Analyst you will be responsible for delivering an information technology security program, ensuring all activity conforms to corporate security policy and procedures and other relevant legislation, and meets the highest security standards for a variety of sensitive information.

This position is based in Victoria. We offer flexible work arrangements, including the opportunity to volunteer to telework (with conditions) as set out in applicable employer policies. Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree, diploma, or certification in the computer science field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years' relevant experience developing and managing data security frameworks/architectures (includes during certification), preferably in a Microsoft environment. (This is no longer a minimum job requirement and is now a preference that may or may not be applied during applicant screening)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience leading technical investigations and handling multiple active issues.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in identifying and evaluating security risks from a business and technological standpoint.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in incident management and incident response.

Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:
  • Professional designation as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or equivalent.
  • Experience contributing to security architecture processes that enable the enterprise to develop and implement secure cloud solutions and capabilities that are clearly aligned with the business, technology, and threat drivers.
  • Experience managing and operating modern security infrastructure systems.
  • Experience conducting complex information security threat and risk assessments.
