Job Summary

The Team
The Digital Workplace and Collaboration Services Branch (DWCS) is an established team of 87 dedicated professionals responsible for implementing high-quality tools to support a modern digital workplace. By delivering employee-ready tools and supports, DWCS enables and empowers all B.C. Public Service employees to deliver services to the citizens of B.C. DWCS is focused on providing simple, accessible, and approachable solutions to employees; by delivering the information and resources they need to access and use digital tools and services.

Part of the DWCS team includes the Digital Workplace Foundational Technology (DWFT) unit that is responsible leading, facilitating, and empowers BC Public Service (BCPS) employees to work seamlessly and efficiently using Microsoft 365 applications. The team is currently focused on the delivery of IT operations for Microsoft Exchange at the enterprise level for the BC Public Service and several Broader Public Sector clients. Their ongoing dedication to the delivery of effective on-premises and cloud application infrastructures is highly valued and essential to the support of a modern digital workplace as part of B.C's Digital Plan: Mission 4 .

The Role
The Intermediate Technical Analyst is responsible for managing and supporting a variety of Microsoft 365 applications and related hardware services at an enterprise level. This role involves troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining systems such as Exchange, Teams Unified Communication and/or, SharePoint, and ensures that these tools meet the needs of the organization. Candidates will find this position exciting as it allows them to work on a cross-functional team that delivers technical support for critical systems across the BCPS.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in computer science or other related field; and two (2) years of *related experience, OR
  • Diploma in computer science or other related field; and three (3) years *related experience, OR
  • Post-Secondary Certificate in computer science or other related field and four (4) years of *related experience, OR
  • Secondary School graduation and five (5) years of *related experience.

*Related experience includes all of the following:
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing, implementing software solutions. Preference may be given to the applicant who have experience within Microsoft 365 (M365) environment.
  • Experience as a technical administrator within the M365 cloud environment. Preference may be given to the applicant who have experience with Exchange Online and Teams Unified Communication.
  • Experience investigating and researching alternatives for current and future technologies in an enterprise environment.
  • A minimum of one (1) years' experience using Microsoft Power Shell to administer M365 Services within a large enterprise environment. Preference may given to those with 2 or more years experience.

Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • One (1) or more years' experience working in an agile methodology environment focused on the planning, design, testing and implementation of digital products and/or services.

Willingness statements
  • Must be flexible with working hours, hours of work vary depending on operational demands
  • Must be willing to work overtime and/or be placed on standby 24/7 with limited notice year-round, including on weekends, evenings, nights and holidays, as needed.

About this Position:
