Compensation
Salary range (in British Columbia): $103,100 - $141,700 per annum
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. What you can expect to do here:
- Have strong general technical skills and an increased level of specialist skills in technical discipline areas.
- Lead and/or manage medium to large local and international projects according to client-approved scopes of work, and deliver high quality reports on time and within budget under the direction of senior engineers.
- Scope and manage dam safety inspections, field investigations, laboratory testing programs, and construction programs.
- Scope, direct, and review project tasks with a focus on soil mechanics, such as interpretation of data, geotechnical analysis (e.g., stability, seepage, thermal, tailings deposition), and development of recommendations for tailings storage facilities and waste rock spoils.
- Complete technical proposals and reports, and design work packages in response to client needs, under the direction of senior engineers.
- Collaborate with mining teams from different disciplines.
- Be client-focused, have regular contact with clients, maintain existing client relationships, and develop new business opportunities.
- Mentor and effectively delegate work to junior engineers.
- Participate in and promote a safety-first culture.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- 5 to 15 years of relevant (post-degree) experience working in a consulting engineering or mining industry environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering. Master's Degree and Ph.D are an asset.
- Currently registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in a Canadian province or territory.
- Strong technical writing, interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Be able to work in and/or lead diverse teams and collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams.
- Strong, client-focused project management skills.
- Sound knowledge in soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
- Ability to think critically and problem solve.
- Ability to effectively delegate work and lead project teams.
- French or Spanish language skills (verbal and written) would be an asset.
- Commitment to safe work practices for yourself and your colleagues.
