Duties:

Instruct first & second-year students in the Forest Resources Technology Program.

Potential courses include:

  • FRST 111 Forest Surveying,
  • FRST 121 Spatial Data,
  • FRST 114 Forest Biometrics,
  • FRST 143 Forest Hydrology & Riparian Management,
  • FRST 328  GIS for Natural Sciences, and
  • FRST 233- Silviculture II.

The courses may require co-instruction of 1 - 4 student contact hours per week in the Fall and/or spring semesters. Specific tasks include preparing and delivering classes (indoors and outdoors) as well as designing and grading student assignments and tests. Individual course information can be found here

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or diploma in Forestry or Natural Resource Management 
  • At least five years recent relevant experience in forest management in BC.
  • Physically fit and capable of leading students in field activities.
  • Have, or being willing to obtain, occupational level 1 first aid with transportation endorsement.
  • A commitment to, and understanding of, current teaching and learning practices in Forestry.
  • A commitment to, and understanding of, the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
