Position Overview:The Journeyperson Mechanic is responsible for the service tasks on product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment (e.g. Mini excavators and skid steers,) and Aerial Work Platform equipment.

Job Description:
  • Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar rental equipment, which includes small engine equipment, construction tools, compact construction equipment, and aerial work platform equipment
  • Perform a wide variety of equipment repair diagnostics
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET as required
  • Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
  • Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
  • Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required

  • Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
  • Apprentice mechanics may be considered
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls, or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
  • Completion of Caterpillar product courses would be considered an asset
  • Previous repair and troubleshooting experience with construction tools, small engine equipment, aerial work platform equipment and diesel generator 8KW to 200KW would be considered an asset

  • What We Offer:
  • This position is located at our TCRS Langley branch on a Monday-Friday, 5x2 shift rotation
  • Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement
  • Hourly rate: $37.65/hour To Start
  • Boot Allowance: $250/year
  • Tool Allowance: $750/year
