Hardware Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design of mixed signal systems incorporating USB, SPI, I2S, DDR2/3, SDRAM, DC-DC converters, Flash Memory, analog filters, LCD Displays, microphones, loudspeakers, micro controllers, ARM processors, DSPs and other technologies as needed.
  • Work within a multifunctional team to develop products from ideation through to design release, manufacturing, and support.
  • Work in tandem with international shared resources to guide, review, and approve PCB layout.
  • Ensure EMI/EMC compliance by good design practice, diagnose and correct failures.
  • Ensure low-noise performance of audio subsystem by good design practice.
  • Support software engineers in prototype validation and fault diagnosis.
  • Test and validate prototypes using various testing equipment (oscilloscope, multi-meter, logic analyzer, audio analysis scope).
  • Support manufacturing in China.
  • Review mechanical drawings and collaborate to create successful electromechanical products.
  • Proactively identify improvements and solutions to problems.
  • Tightly control BOM cost of product designs.
  • Contribute positively working closely with a cross-functional team to meet challenging deadlines and solve problem.

Qualification Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent amount of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a closely related role with primary responsibility for both analog and digital electronic design.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with electronic lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, logic analyzers, etc.
  • Extensive experience with electronic schematic capture tools such as Pads Logic and Altium Designer.
  • Experience with documentation of product development from design to production to ECO processes.
  • Experience developing project plans and following them through.

Qualification Preferences

  • Experience designing mixed signal audio products.
  • Passion for music equipment (gear head).
  • Experience ensuring signal integrity on technologies such as DDR2/3 or similar.
  • Background in music production, performing or engineering, whether professionally or as a hobby.
  • Experience integrating RF solutions such as wifi and Bluetooth into products.
  • Knowledge of scripting e.g. Python.
  • Familiarity with real-time embedded programming and digital signal processing.
