The Opportunity: WSP Golder is looking to add a Senior Geotechnical Engineer (Numerical Modeller) to our Ground Engineering and Materials Team in BC and Yukon. We offer attractive pay, flexible work options, a great corporate culture, comprehensive and employee-focused benefits including virtual healthcare and a wellness platform as well as great savings programs, and a clear vision for the future.#WeAre WSP A day in the life: •Geotechnical engineer carrying out multi-disciplinary (Bridge, Ports, Building, Dam, Infrastructure, Mining, and Tunneling) projects requiring Numerical Modeling work;
•You will perform numerical modeling, analyze results, and communicate results to senior supervisor and clients;
•You will assist with the development of advanced earthquake engineering models, soil-structure interaction analysis, and non-linear deformation analysis including soil liquefaction and cyclic softening;
•You will participate in the development of geotechnical field investigation programs and liaise with drilling contractors;
•You will develop laboratory testing programs and communicate with laboratory personnel;
•You will assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from field investigations;
•You will prepare technical reports, factual data reports, and baseline reports;
•You will work collaboratively with engineering staff on geomechanics consulting projects;
•You'll have the opportunity to share technical knowledge across geographical boundaries to foster innovative project solutions;
•You may be required to perform other tasks as part of your role in the team.
We'd love to hear from you if you have ... •Master's or Ph.D. degree in Geotechnical, Geomechanics, Civil Geological, or Mining Engineering;
•Registered, or eligible to be registered, as a P.Eng. with EGBC;
•A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience as a Geotechnical Engineer, Mining Engineer, Civil Engineer, Rock Mechanics Engineer, Geomechanics Engineer, or related position;
•A minimum of four (4) year of experience with numerical modeling;
•Experience with Finite Element/Difference software FLAC or PLAXIS 2D or 3D (required);
•Knowledge of standard geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Ensoft, Rocscience , or other similar software suites;
•Experience with 1D site response analyses and basic knowledge of earthquake engineering;
•Sound theoretical background in seismic geotechnical engineering, soil-structure interaction, and soil and rock mechanics;
•Field and Laboratory (index testing and advanced) testing experience preferred;
•Sense of initiative and be self-directed, managing and completing projects on time and on budget;
•Ability to perform critical evaluation of outputs for geotechnical analyses.
