We are seeking an Intermediate-Senior Geological/Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Engineering team based in our Vancouver office on a full-time basis

A day in the life,

• Work with local, national and global project teams on geological and geotechnical engineering projects that involve open pit mining, underground mining, mine remediation and closure, geotechnical, waste management, and utility projects.
• Conduct field assignments, such as site mapping, drilling supervision, borehole logging, hydrogeological testing, borehole geophysics, test pit logging, site reconnaissance, and construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring.
• Prepare construction documents including engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Project assignments may include local, national, and international travel (>50% of the time) with possible short-term or long-term assignments at project sites.
• Summarize the findings of the field assignments for input into engineering reports.
• Perform office tasks such as engineering analyses, engineering design, construction recommendations, and report preparation
• You will always ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites and take WSP's Life Saving rules to heart;

We would love to hear from you if you have...

• Bachelor's or Master's (preferred) in Geological or Geotechnical Engineering or equivalency, with passing F.E. (E.I.T);
• 4-10 years of experience in geological engineering of mine sites
• Strong computer skills and experience with industry standard commercial computer software including: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, mine design software (i.e. Leapfrog, Surpac, Vulcan, MineSight) and various geo-engineering software (i.e. slope stability, rockfall analysis)
• Familiar with engineering field skills such as field measurement and geological mapping, geotechnical core logging and sampling, hydrogeological testing, borehole instrumentation installation. ;
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and a positive attitude as well as the ability to work both independently and on teams;
• A willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice is valuable;

It is also beneficial to be comfortable in remote settings, with a can-do attitude, and a willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed to complete an assignment and satisfy project demands
