As a highly motivated and self-directed professional, you will be the primary expert for all Financial Application system functionality and work to ensure it meets the business needs of all end users of the City's Financial Management System. You will work within a complex multi-site organization providing leadership, guidance, support, efficiencies, and training in relation to the systems and efficient business processes. Responsibilities also include supervision over one or more subordinates. Communication skills are critical to understand, interpret and explain technical issues that impact business operations.


As a Functional Application Analyst 3, you will:
    • work closely in a team environment to support, respond, investigate, prioritize and resolve integrated administrative, technical, or operating problems within the functional end user base using standard methodologies and procedures. • act as a liaison with IT for all system issues raised by the functional users that require IT involvement. • manage the resolution of all issues; provide ongoing support and training to all end users and management staff through training programs, one on one consultation, systems or procedural advice, etc. • work closely with end users to gather requirements and develop Financial Management System reports and templates to assist with their accounting and business process needs.

In addition, the successful candidate will supervise, train and assist in supporting or backfilling for the other Functional Application Analysts within the team. Additional duties and tasks may include supporting the Finance department's Financial Reporting function in year end audit tasks, periodic financial reporting, annual financial statements, meeting statutory reporting requirements and other related duties as assigned.


As the successful candidate, you will
    • have a solid understanding of financial business processes, as well as being detail oriented and have a technical aptitude. • possess excellent planning, organizing and estimating skills alongside the ability to work in a strategic and proactive manner. • have the ability to think logically and analytically in a problem-solving environment and have effective presentation skills.

The successful candidate will have a professional accounting designation (CPA) plus 4 years or more of directly related and relevant experience, preferably in a municipal setting. You will also have knowledge or experience with the financial application software Unit4 ERP along with strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and SQL.
