Full Stack Software Engineer

About the Opportunity

We are the leading provider of Academic-Dental software solutions in North America with clients located around the world. Our products enable educational institutions to train the next generation of dental professionals to deliver dental care to a variety of markets, including the underserved and uninsured. Our core on-premises product is powering over 90% of the market and our cloud product is targeted for 300% growth over the next 12 months. To continue building on our success, we are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer who is passionate about continuous learning, brings strong software development experience and adopts a collaborative approach to problem solving.

The primary responsibility of this role is to build our Ascend cloud enterprise solution. You will be engaged throughout all phases of the software development life cycle and use your drive for technology and quality to help us exceed customer expectations.

You have 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer being involved both with front end and backend development. You are passionate about technology and look forward to a role that will have you work as part of a cross-functional development team with full ownership for the entire product. This role reports to the Team Lead for the Ascend Team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing cloud/SaaS web applications.
• Solid understanding of application architecture and enterprise design patterns.
• Knowledge of unit testing frameworks and web APIs.
• Proficiency with front-end technologies: JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js, Backbone.js, React), HTML5 & CSS.
• Proficiency in the following programming languages and frameworks: Java, Groovy/Grails, Node.js
• Experience with Amazon Web Services and tools.
• Working knowledge of Agile & Scrum.
• Experience with database systems, query optimization, and storage systems.

Bonus Qualifications

• Knowledge of RabbitMQ SQS, AWS SNS, or other messaging frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Pentaho.
• Dental or Healthcare industry knowledge is an asset but not mandatory.
