Fuel Cell Test Technologist

Ballard is seeking one Fuel Cell Test Technologist to join the Stack Test Engineering team in Burnaby, B.C.

We are seeking a Fuel Cell Test Technologist.

The successful candidate will apply strong technical skills to the development of next-generation fuel cell products by executing characterization and verification tests in Ballard's world-class test lab, as well as assisting in the safe operation of the lab. Working closely with a team of technicians, technologists and engineers in our fast-paced environment, the goal is to advance Ballard's broad line of fuel cell products and testing services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Executing fuel cell tests to evaluate the performance and durability of fuel cell stack designs
• Analyzing data using statistical tools
• Supporting the development and writing of test protocols, test reports, and presentations including recommendations for continuous improvement
• Troubleshooting problems and optimizing test station configuration with lab equipment support team to ensure test objectives are achieved and high quality data is delivered
• Maintaining a safe work environment; participating in hazard assessments and safety reviews
• Assisting in the day to day management of the laboratory facility and department operations
• Assisting in the training of new employees

Requirements:

• An Engineering Technologist Diploma or Associates Degree with 1-5 years of experience in a fuel cell testing lab or similar technical environment is required
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Meticulous attention to detail

Assets:

• Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical equipment assembly and troubleshooting
• Working knowledge of electrochemistry and experience with related instrumentation
• Experience programming macros for automated control of test equipment and for data crunching and analysis
• Strong data analysis, data management and reporting skills
