QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or related field with a minimum of 5 years recent experience

  • Embedded software architectural and hardware level systems design experience

  • Experience with 8-bit to 32-bit MCUs (ARM preferred)

  • Strong C experience in embedded applications. Use of assembly an asset.

  • Experience or good understanding of development using embedded RTOS; freeRTOS (preferred), eCos, uCosII, etc.

  • Driver experience with peripheral devices attached to mcu over data busses, SPI, and I2C

  • Must adhere to source control best practices (SVN or Git)

  • Self-motivated with exceptional critical thinking and analytical abilities

  • Strong communications and technical writing skills

  • Innovative, results-oriented problem solver

PREFERRED

  • Protocol experience with CAN-Bus

  • Stack experience with TCP/IP, Bluetooth, BLE, and ANT+

  • Experience with nordic nRF devices

  • Mixed signal experience

  • Schematic design and PCB layout experience

  • Experience with board level debug, soldering and rework

  • Exposure to high-performance sport would be considered an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with project manager, developers, and technicians to resolve technical issues during development, testing, and small-scale production

  • Provide input and design review of new hardware and equipment; and participate in all aspects of development from initial planning to project completion

  • Test existing hardware components to define operational parameters and recommend necessary upgrades and replacements to meet current and future performance standards

  • Oversee manufacturing and production of new hardware, including development of operational prototypes, to verify compliance with design plans and testing procedures

  • Ensure new hardware systems and equipment work correctly within their intended applications, and track and modify hardware as necessary.

  • Help maintain document control and quality management systems and processes.
