Job Description

 

Established commercial/residential millwork operation serving the local BC market is looking for an experienced Finish Carpentry Project Manager. We are looking for a team player who will uphold our vision and propel us to the next phase of expansion and development as an organization. As the Project Manager overseeing the Finish Carpentry crews, you will schedule and manage all field crews to install high-quality interior trim, cabinetry, moulding, and doors while ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. As a skilled team leader, you will work collaboratively with valued clients, estimators, field personnel and office project managers managing the finish carpentry aspects of all new build, TI and large-scale remodeling projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the staffing, training and coordination of all finish carpentry installation crews within the context of larger projects.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of subcontractors, vendors, and field crews.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout and material requirements. Analyze and approve work orders, change orders, work schedules and other finish carpentry project documents.
  • Ensure the installation of intricate finishing details, millwork, crown moulding, baseboards, window/door casings, panels etc. meet the standards of craftsmanship required.
  • Collaborate with other project managers, technical/trade staff, clients, and office staff to ensure efficient project completion on time and on budget.
  • Keep informed of any changes in the project, revisions, change orders, scope of work, scheduling etc. Address discrepancies and special conditions.
  • Ensure standards on safety, security, protection and maintenance of company tools are followed on the various jobsites.
  • Bring issues to the attention of other departments for discussion and resolution.

To fully qualify for and be successful in this position you must have:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ direct and supervisory experience in finish carpentry, preferably installing commercial and residential millwork.
  • Proven ability to schedule/manage multiple projects on time and on budget
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and building specifications with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a team setting with all levels of employees, subcontractors, and clients to achieve results.
  • Knowledge of all materials, techniques and woodworking tools related to installations combined with expertise in the installation details of trim, cabinetry, doors and wood components.
  • Proven leadership skills, and expert knowledge of building codes.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
