* Develops and implements new or revised systems, methods and procedures

* Acts as a project leader for new or modified large major complex and enterprise wide financial computer systems and development projects

* Prepares and controls schedules, targets, project staff and resources

* Directs, oversees and monitors testing of features and facilities of new systems

* Follows up to ensure plans, specifications, targets and expectations are achieved

* Arranges for and/or provides training, technical guidance and support to system users and clients

* Oversees and/or provides system administration, method and procedural maintenance and problem resolution support for existing systems

* Provides technical guidance, advice and assistance to clients with major complex system operation and problem solving

* Monitors, tests and ensures the original intent and requirements for major complex system projects are satisfied

* Intervenes and follows up to resolve problems

* Researches and conducts studies to determine the impact of emerging Information Technology/

* System products, services, methods and practical application potential and compatibility with client/users requirements to improve corporate wide financial system efficiency

* Evaluates and prepares recommendations on the applicability and viability of new and existing products, services and methods

* Oversees or arranges for the design and building of various personal computer based applications

* Guides management to adopt the most appropriate procedural and technical solution

* Facilitates leads and/or chairs committee and working group meetings

* Assists groups to establish objectives, prepare business case and cost/benefit analysis, and to expedite projects; prepares and distributes communication updates and other information on the status of major financial system projects

* Participates in the development and implementation of corporate and business unit financial system strategy

* Provides project leadership and technical direction to lower level Financial System staff, contractors and consultants

* Conducts business system analysis for large major complex and enterprise wide financial application systems and solutions consistent with overall system architecture and concepts such as: - researching, defining and developing new or modified business system, integration requirements, proposals and models; - identifying and evaluating new or revised system opportunities, existing management reporting systems, business process improvement opportunities, controls, alternative designs and specifications; - developing and presenting project proposals, financial and business justifications and recommendations; - developing project budgets and schedules; - liaising with system development staff to discuss and organize programming and other resources to meet project and production schedules for approved projects.


* Accounting data capture, control and management reporting systems, integrated computer systems, financial data warehouse and data base concepts, financial procedures, managerial accounting, financial and business activity analysis, control methods, project management, specification development, report writing, financial and business modelling, data processing, computers in business, computerized financial systems, management and financial planning, personal computer and related desktop and mainframe application program operation, interpersonal communication knowledge are typically acquired through completion of a university degree in MIS and accounting or a professional accounting designation plus BC Hydro in house courses in advanced CDS, query tools and various BMS applications and financial systems, internet browsers and email systems.

* A minimum of 6 years previous experience involving the development and implementation of large major complex and enterprise wide financial computer systems and system architecture design and implementation issues, systems analysis, a detailed knowledge of integrated software

package functionality and upgrades, systems/specifications development and project management with a demonstrated working knowledge of BMS and other financial systems, financial analysis, business process improvement, management planning and reporting processes. * Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication, system analysis, project leadership and teamwork skills.


This position is affiliated with the Movement of United Professionals union (MoveUP/COPE).

This position provides an opportunity to be part of SAP Customer services which acts as system of record for BC Hydro customer services business function. This position will include learning of SAP operational platform, ownership of IT changes and how it aligns and helps with BC Hydro industry practices. This position is an important part of exciting transformation journey to support next generation SAP IT solutions for customer services.
