The Ballard Strategy and Development team is seeking a Financial Analyst. This professional will be a business advisor to senior leadership and will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Ballard. The ideal candidate enjoys diving deep into complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams and thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Support senior leadership by conducting industry research, valuation analyses, due diligence, and creation of strategic recommendations for the purpose of strategic commercial agreement and M&A
  • Track and maintain virtual data rooms containing diligence materials
  • Collaborate with the Product Management teams to determine business-case feasibility for new or existing product offerings and development programs; including support of Ballard's technology and product portfolio management phase gate review process
  • Support commercial team understanding of customer specific financial requirements through value proposition analysis, product cost roadmaps and target pricing plans
  • Ownership of key corporate financial models (e.g. Goodwill Valuation Test, Strategic Plan)
  • Develop driver-based free cash flow (FCF) models including net present value (NPV) & return on investment (ROI) analysis


Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated competencies in business case and other financial analysis. They will possess solid interpersonal skills and have the aptitude to link detailed financial models with higher level strategic themes. It is expected the candidate can utilize a range of data and information sources to perform analysis and generate impactful management reports.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Science, Engineering or other related field
  • 1-3 years of financial analysis experience
  • Working towards a professional designation (CA, CBV, CPA, CFA) would be an asset
  • Strong self-starter comfortable as a team player or working independently
  • Strong analytical, financial, and presentation skills
  • Proficient with MS Office software complimented by advanced Excel capability; experience with excel add-in software or macros is an asset
  • Experience with Capital IQ is an asset
