You possess excellent interpersonal skills and have well-developed communication and presentation skills. You carry forward strong leadership skills and are continuously working on improvement, whether it is people leadership or engagement you are constantly moving the needle. You work well with teams, beams and machines!
As the Engineering Manager, you provide engineering and technical expertise to ensure the viability of our pulp mills. Focusing on sustainability and the environment, you will work with mill department leaders and project engineers to provide design concepts, economic justifications and recommend suppliers and contractors for proposed projects. You will also liaise with production teams to schedule or set priorities on maintenance or new installations as well with technical and environmental departments, ensuring process and environmental standards are incorporated into designs.
Although you will not be the person responsible for the technical work, your strong understanding of the technical aspects, will be necessary. You will assist in the preparation of regular project progress reports; ensure work performed by members of the department or contractors is consistent with terms of the collective agreement and corporate policy and support management of change to minimize equipment and process risk.
In an ideal world, you come equipped with a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical), and you are a professional registered engineer. Prior experience in pulp & paper or heavy industry would "enhance" your application but is not needed to apply.
