Our Future Friendly Home Services DevOps team is responsible for technology development and operations of our Optik TV services, video services, Network as a Service (NaaS), in addition to microservices-based video components and software development across our video platforms at TELUS.

The way Canadians consume video content is rapidly evolving, and this is an exciting time to be an integral part of a mission to ensure our platforms are always one step ahead of customer behaviours and expectations.

Guided by DevOps and cloud-native principles, you'll be responsible for leading a team of highly technical software engineers to develop and implement video platforms and architectures that support video services across TELUS' Future Friendly Home line of business.

While software already forms the basis for many elements of our video services, you'll help expand the depth and breadth of software development across our platforms as we build the next generation of video components at TELUS.

    •Lead and inspire a diverse group of software engineers, ensuring that a DevOps and cloud-first mindset is at the forefront of all project-related work and day-to-day operations •Mentor our skilled technical talent and drive change leadership as we support the evolution of our video services using the power of software-based future friendly technologies •Collaborate with and ensure harmony between multiple project teams, including business units, program management, solution architecture, business analysis, quality assurance, IT infrastructure and third-party vendors •Resolve complex issues and conflicts, and escalate to the executive level when necessary •Drive team engagement by working with all team members to support their career goals and remove obstacles •Work with the broader leadership team to support various team building events and implement your own strategy to keep the team informed, motivated and productive •Attend all cross-functional strategy planning sessions, and provide updates on our current and future software engineering capabilities and roadmaps



Qualifications:

You're the missing piece of the puzzle
    •With your progressive career spanning a minimum of 5 years of experience as a senior technology leader in a DevOps enterprise environment •Solid knowledge and understanding of emerging video, home network and broadband technologies such as GPON and 5G •A keen interest in keeping up with the latest video innovations and technologies, as well as demonstrated hands-on experience with implementing best practices in DevOps and cloud engineering •Ability to interact with executive leadership and distil complex problems into actionable programs •Relentless focus and passion for improving the customer experience •Impeccable verbal and written communication skills, and excellent presentation skills that can influence an executive audience •Have an excellent understanding of the software development lifecycle •Coordinate between multiple development projects and large scale enterprise projects •Ability to provide metrics regarding key point indicators (KPIs) to align with business objectives •Ability to road map development work and features to provide timelines and guidance for development •Drive high quality code and feature work through the enforcement of automated testing, manual testing, or other quality gates where appropriate •Coordinate the release management process of software development leveraging CI-CD
Must haves
    •University graduate with a degree in software engineering, electrical engineering or computer science •10+ years of experience in video technologies and communication protocols
Great-to-haves
    •Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree or equivalent •Program or project management certification or experience •Lean Six Sigma certification or experience •Background in telecommunications •Fluency in French
