We are currently looking for a Director of Financeto join our team inSurrey, BC. The Director of Finance will support the CFO and Finance Team withthe execution of strategy and control for the group of companies.

The Director of Finance will lead the Finance Team and oversee anddirect the accounting, financial reporting, tax and treasury functions for theCompany and ensure that internal and external reporting requirements are metwith high quality, reliability and accurate information. This position has extensive interaction with all levels of theorganization and is responsible for delivering value-added business analysisand meaningful financial/operational reports that lead to insightful, accuratebusiness decision making.
Outcomes


Within 30 days:
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with each Finance Team member to gain a basic understanding of each member's function and responsibilities.
  • Train and become proficient using GP and Jet Reports
  • Learn the financial reporting process including the preparation of the consolidated financial statements.
  • Obtain an understanding of the main accounting functions and trust functions of all operating companies within the GroupHEALTH Group of Companies
  • Coordinate and lead Finance Team meetings and scrums
  • Complete the first of 4 CEBS E-Learning Modules to become more familiar with the Group Benefits industry
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with each department leader to gain a basic understanding of each department's function, structure, and responsibilities.

Within 60 days:
  • Present monthly Finance Dept KPI's
  • Complete the second of 4 CEBS E-Learning Modules

Within 90 days:
  • Complete Finance Team quarterly objectives reviews by Mar/2019
  • Complete the third of 4 CEBS E-Learning Modules
  • Obtain an understanding of the accounting functions and reporting requirements for the Community Services Benefits Trust (CSBT)

Accounting and Finance:
  • Manage and lead Finance Team - Direct reports include Finance Manager and Controller
  • Oversee finance and accounting policies and practices - Establishment, development and monitoring under IFRS
  • Perform accounting analysis and research and prepare technical memos in accordance with IFRS as required
  • Manage, review and resolve all complex accounting issues
  • Review and analyze monthly results of all reporting entities and ensure compliance with the Company's accounting policies
  • Review consolidation, models and account code structure
  • Ensure consistent awareness and training on finance and accounting policies and practices, for all employees
  • Manage audits, ensuring timely audit completion with no issues

Corporate Finance, Treasury and Budgeting:
  • Oversee orporate treasury reporting and cashflow management
  • Oversee cash forecasting and analysis
  • Develop and manage the continued development of the annual consolidated budget, financial forecasting, operating plans and modeling processes
  • Manage budget variances including monitoring costs and working with CFO to hold organization accountable, and identify trends/risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Oversee debt covenant reporting and compliance
  • Assist CFO with various financing activities

Financial and Managerial Reporting:
  • Oversee preparation of annual and quarterly financial statements and MD&A under IFRS, ensuring quality, timeliness and accuracy for review by senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Prepare quarterly Board of Director financial information packages
  • Assist with the development and improvement of financial and managerial reporting

Responsible for review and completion of monthly financial reports including:
  • Oversee individual entity financial reporting package preparation on a monthly basis for review by senior management, the Board and Lenders
  • Implement and enforce monthly financial reporting timetables
  • Maintain management reporting templates and models
  • Prepare and present monthly KPI reporting and analysis to management team

Compliance, Audit and Internal Control:

Oversee the development of company-wide internal control structure ensuring alignment with standards/policies and best practices:
  • Establish and monitor internal controls
  • Review and implement controls and policies as required

Tax Planning and Compliance:
  • Oversee the taxation process
  • Ensure tax compliance for each entity including corporate income tax and federal and sales tax compliance
  • Oversee calculations, returns and remittances and consolidated tax accounting
  • Calculate and review deferred income taxes and tax provision under IFRS

Major Projects:
  • Project Controls - responsible to ensure accounting, cost control, reporting, and approvals are adhered to for all major projects

Other Projects:

Assist the CFO in execution and maintenance of the following areas:
  • ERP systems implementation and maintenance
  • Human Resource development of Finance employees
  • Ad hoc projects and analysis as requested
  • Business process improvements
  • Mergers and acquisitions
