The role:

The Director, Construction, is a detail-oriented and results' driven leader who oversees the construction process for new projects and existing project warranty and maintenance. This role contributes to the company’s success by providing expert guidance to cross-functional internal teams as projects are developed, from inception to completion. Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Establishing rigorous processes to measure any deficiencies or warranty issues;
  • Providing measurable and specific data to construction design teams for input into the development of future projects;
  • Establishing Customer Care Annual Plan – details budgets, priorities, major and operational expenditures and new technologies.
  • Leads, directs, and oversees construction work of a team of project managers, including assigning new construction, renovation and maintenance projects
  • Develops realistic project schedules and ensures that they are adhered to 
  • Responsible for on time and on budget execution of all installation and construction projects to meet expectations of the business
  • Influences and communicates in a clear, direct and collaborative manner with all internal and external contacts
  • Understands and follows the company’s - staffing, performance management, rewards, and development
  • Accountable for the overall engagement, productivity, turnover and bench strength of the team
  • Ensures all team members are provided with clear performance objectives that are aligned with company’s Functional and Departmental goals
  • Has the ability to see the total organization with an integrated perspective
  • Develops positive and productive peer relationships
  • Works in a collaborative and constructive manner with team and cross functional partners
  • Enthusiastically promotes a culture of customer satisfaction


What you have:


Work Experience/Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or equivalent
  • 10 years of demonstrated construction project management experience in the retail industry
  • Experience leading a team of project managers
  • PMP certification an asset
  • Experience in phased construction projects
  • Practical hands-on experience in the management of the design and construction process to ensure cost effective solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in a project lead role

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop relationships and leverage business partners to complete tasks and achieve desired outcomes
