The Opportunity:

The Director of Information Technology (IT) will head the IT department and report directly to the COO. Tantalus is going through a period of rapid growth and transformation, and we are looking for a Director of IT who will play a key role in the management of our current and future security, infrastructure, technology, and network requirements. The successful candidate will provide the technology vision and leadership for developing and implementing IT initiatives that drive innovation and improve cost-effectiveness and quality of service in a dynamic, competitive marketplace - maximizing the effective use of the systems as well as improving the performance of the systems, resources, and networks. They will lead a team of skilled professionals as well as third-party technology providers. 


  • Develop and implement the company’s multi-year IT systems and architecture roadmap as part of the organization’s long term strategic plan
  • Partner with various business functions (both corporate and manufacturing) to determine the optimal IT solution to meet their business needs, in a cost-effective manner that fits within the central IT architecture
  • Develop the technology strategy for the organization - build and implement the roadmap to define, structure, and centralize our data into a single source of truth, and leverage the data by launching digital enterprise dashboards and analytics
  • Be a great communicator and influencer that can help business functions adopt and implement new technology solutions to improve processes and drive better decisions
  • Manage the IT department by defining core projects, processes, and service levels; allocate people and technology resources to ensure its effective operation, including oversight for the department capital and operating budget
  • Lead and develop an IT team that is seen as a proactive, customer service and problem solver -aligned with the needs of a remote and global workforce and key enabler department that supports the growth and flexibility of the organization,
  • Maintain relationship management and contract negotiations with external stakeholders (vendors and service providers) to achieve overall technology goals
  • Be accountable for network security compliance, data integrity, business continuity and related processes, and build training and awareness of these topics through the organization
  • Have thorough knowledge of relevant IT regulatory, compliance, and privacy controls and ensure that business processes and systems meet these documented controls and policies
  • Project manage implementation of telecommunication and ERP-level systems and provide guidance throughout the process – from RFP, through to implementation and on-going support 

What you Bring

Education & Experience

  • 8-10 years of experience in IT operations or technology development, with 3-5 years in managerial positions
  • Bachelors or post-graduate-level education in computer science, business, or related field
  • Experience defining the overall enterprise IT system architecture and prioritizing the strategic & tactical planning, implementation and management of the overall ecosystem
  • Experience with Linux, SaaS and IaaS cloud computing (Google/Azure/AWS) would be a competitive differentiator
  • Experience in RFP, deployment and implementation of an ERP level system would be an asset
  • Network security management experience
  • Experience leading an IT team, with a proven ability to manage IT personnel in hardware support and internal help desk function
  • Experience in developing and implementing IT services offerings including requirements gathering, solution development, implementation planning and execution, financial budget management and forecasting, and on-going service improvement and innovation
  • Experience managing and overseeing third-party service provider service delivery execution, including contract negotiation
  • Experience in developing IT policies – specifically, disaster recovery, incident response, cyber-security, confidentiality
  • Experience in building and maintaining IT infrastructure for a multi-location, remote organization
