Director, Business Intelligence and Data Quality

The Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction (SDPR) is dedicated to helping British Columbians in need to become more self-sufficient by supporting our most vulnerable citizens, giving families the tools to participate more fully in their communities and become more independent.
Supporting both SDPR and the Ministry of Children and Family Development, the Information Services Division (ISD) provides strong information management and information technology (IM/IT) leadership including application and infrastructure management, workplace technologies, security, privacy and compliance and business intelligence and data quality services. The division was created to serve the Social Sector’s current and future needs.
The Director, Business Intelligence and Data Quality is responsible for defining strategic direction and leadership for the design, development, and implementation of Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and Data Quality for the Sector. This includes leading strategic planning around data management, information management, and information delivery in support of the Sector’s objectives. It also includes data governance, Corporate Data Warehouse Program and project management oversight, technical direction, and BI/DW technical and business support. The data quality role also supports operations and continuous improvement for critical systems.
Qualifications for this role include:
University degree or post-secondary diploma in Computer Sciences, Information Systems or a related discipline and minimum 4 years of related progressive experience; OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and 7 years of related progressive experience.
Project Management Professional designation or equivalent combination of experience or education.
Experience at a senior Program Management level guiding the identification, definition, prioritization, initiation and development of services in support of business goals and objectives.
Experience as a Project Manager/Director in the development of large-scale, complex IT-related projects, including projects with strategic and tactical impact and business transformation across a large, decentralized organizational structure.
Experience with stakeholder engagement with multiple internal and external sources.
Experience in developing data management strategies and policies that promote information management principles, governance, and data quality practices.
Experience managing technical staff and project teams.
Experience with contract management, financial/budget management and/or procurement
