Our team has led innovation and continued growth in the TV sector by pioneering content packaging that gives users the choice and flexibility to customize their content across traditional TV channels and OTT streaming services. We continue to push the envelope by offering users new types of interactive content like Calm, OpenFit etc., licensing unique video content directly from around the world for our customers via TELUS Presents, leading the market in the delivery of new capabilities like 4K and HDR, producing award winning TELUS Originals, and engaging consumers through new means like hyperlocal livestreams and our national TELUS esports series.

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

This is an exciting opportunity to set the strategy and vision for the future of entertainment content offerings at TELUS. You will support the Content and Programming team of experienced business development and strategy team members, helping them to identify and execute on the biggest opportunities to make TELUS the provider of the very best entertainment services in Canada.

You'll focus on building and growing relationships with established and emerging content companies in Canada and around the world, licensing linear, on demand, transactional, pay per view and streaming content for our existing Optik and Pik TV services. You'll work on licensing content to enable new services that expand further into adjacent areas of education, health/wellness, fitness, gaming etc. Finally, you will also have an opportunity to directly license content from around the world to program the TELUS Presents content offering to uniquely engage our consumer base.

As a dynamic, accomplished professional joining us as Director - Content and Programming, you'll not only elevate and shape our strategy, you'll continue to foster an open and collaborative environment where ideas come to life.

Here's how
    •Provide strategic guidance to a team of subject matter experts, to develop our content strategies, build strategic relationships with content creators/licensors globally and execute innovative content licensing deals
    •Manage the broad and expanding content portfolio for the Optik and Pik TV television services and the related content acquisition and renewal deals
    •Evolve and grow TELUS Presents by acquiring unique content worldwide that speaks to our consumers and our distinctive editorial voice with a view to maximizing user engagement and service differentiation
    •Expand the boundaries of what an entertainment service can be by introducing new content categories and helping create new products that can engage consumers and create new opportunities for our content partners,
    •Identify ways to improve our products and drive differentiation in market in collaboration with product and go-to-market teams
    •Motivate and develop your team and focus on overall strategy, team development and collaboration
    •Successfully define and measure performance metrics, resolve challenges, and deliver results in alignment with TELUS priorities
    •Serve as a key thought leader in the Connected Home and Entertainment leadership team

    •Dealmaker and relationship builder who can open doors and create opportunities, negotiate complex agreements and close deals effectively while innovating and delivering value at every turn
    •Analytical thinker who understands, analyzes and optimizes complex business problems, issues and challenges. Provides thoughtful recommendations that link back to specific business problems and goals
    •Persuasive communicator who is clear, concise and articulate in all aspects of communication, including excellent verbal communication. Manages stakeholder communications well, including to members of cross-functional leadership teams.
    •A trailblazer, who supports the development of new content offerings, products and services, by providing business context and working with cross-functional teams to define and deliver to shared business goals and opportunities

Great-to-haves
    •University degree, MBA preferred
    •10+ years of progressively complex business development and team management experience
    •TV and/or OTT content licensing experience with a proven history of developing content licensing relationships and managing significant licensing deals and renewals
