About the role:

As a Developer on the Concur Travel Platform and Homepage team, you will make a positive impact on our team's two-pronged mission:

  • Keep business travelers happy and productive while giving companies visibility and control

    Our team's first mission is focused on Concur Travel, the industry-leading corporate travel management product. It allows business travelers to easily book flights, hotels, and car rentals in one online booking tool while complying with their employers' travel policies. While some parts of our code base are old enough to vote, we are revitalizing it with cloud-first concepts and technologies including containerization in some areas, serverless architecture in others, and increased use of NoSQL data stores.


  • Build a compelling homepage experience for 60 million users that is fast and always available

    Our team's second mission is to build the next-generation homepage experience for SAP Concur. It is a feature-rich page displaying the user's receipts and expense reports at a glance while also providing the ability to book travel on the spot. As the first page shownto every user, this crucial page needs to be fast, fault-tolerant, and always available even in the face of unforeseen disruptions to other components of the product.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within and across teams to d evelop software end-to-end: elaborating requirements, coding features and automated tests, scripting automated deployments, validating correctness and performance, and troubleshooting and resolving production problems.
  • Implement automation and monitoring of services to minimize response times to service degradation.
  • Partner with product management and user experience teams to design user-centric solutions to simplify corporate travel management.
  • Investigate and solve critical customer issues.


Required experience and qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience developing in Golang, Kotlin, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React/Redux, GraphQL, C++, C#, or another mainstream programming language.
  • Passion for solving technical computer problems by writing actual working code.
  • Curiosity and desire to understand the root cause of each problem encountered.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work adeptly in a big codebase: figuring out, debugging, and improving code not written by yourself.


Desirable experience and qualifications:

  • Linux and shell scripting, Windows and PowerShell scripting, Git, DevOps, continuous deployments, zero-downtime techniques
  • Cloud-native architecture (Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Helm, Envoy, Vault)
  • AWS experience with tools including EKS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, RDS, Dynamo
  • SQL databases (MS SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres), NoSQL data stores (Redis, Couchbase, Memcached)
  • Networking (TCP/IP, HTTP, load balancing), concurrent programming (coroutines, actors, threads), encryption (SSL/TLS, JWT), cybersecurity, CDNs (Akamai, CloudFront), performance monitoring (Kibana, NewRelic)
  • Experience working in an agile, live site culture which practices frequent deployments and automation of everything including infrastructure buildout, deployments, and tests
  • Evidence of excellence in some capacity (could be via personal projects, exceptional success in some endeavor, etc.)
