As a Design Specialist II, you will be responsible for a number of key items such as managing TELUS physical infrastructure, maintaining effective relationships with the development community & municipalities, as well as securing the necessary government agency approvals for projects to name a few.Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together
The Design Specialist II will be responsible for many aspects including designing technical specifications for outside plant networks, mapping new processes, technologies, and network topologies changes, as well as rolling out new processes and training team members.
By reviewing the Outside Plant Design jobs for quality/reliability, our intent is to reduce costs and increase revenue and ensure adequate capacity of outside plant copper and fibre networks.
Also, you will ensure schedules & deadlines are monitored and adjusted appropriately: running reports in SAP to assist with workload management.Here's how
•Lead meetings with key stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes on a project by project, so the ability to influence a variety of stakeholders by speaking their language
•Very comfortable in operating in the "grey area" as you'll act as prime interface with our contract design teams to ensure key date metrics are met
•Write technical reports
•Demonstrate the ability to produce designs based on sound engineering economic analysis and following guidelines established by network standards, and a background in planning and organizing schedules to meet deadlinesQualifications:You're the missing piece of the puzzle

•Ability to work effectively with external customers
•Negotiating and conflict management skills
•Willing to work in locations that preclude your ability to return home every day, on an as required basis
•Flexible presentation & communication skills for executive & frontline audiences
•Ability to navigate complex teams and collaborate with influence, with a demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders to gain buy-in
•Proven track record for consistently delivering results and effectively meeting program milestones
•Outstanding business & financial acumen with the ability to anticipate and develop strategies in a rapidly evolving telecommunication industry
•Strong analytical & critical thinking skills coupled with superior ability to creatively solve problems
•Recipient of a bachelor degree or post-secondary diploma in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent education and/or experience Great-to-haves
•Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
