The Design Engineer – EPOC (Engineering Point of Contact) is responsible for developing the entire platform
for new boats on order between 7 to 13m. The design and modifications to these systems is to be in accordance with industry standards such as ABYC, TC and ISO standards.
The EPOC activities include the following:
• Participation during the quotation stage by creating quotation drawings (2D) and/or models to give basic overall dimensions and layout for new boat proposals
• Assist Sales team in developing an accurate definition for signed orders
•Construct a 3D model using Soildworks for new boats on order
•Design review process to ensure all options are included
•Project Management to ensure the Production Schedule stays on time
•BOM creation – setup all components required to build the boat in the MRP system
•Production drawings – Provide assembly with accurate information to build the boat
The engineering department is subdivided into divisions including composites design, aluminum fabrication,electrical, propulsion, naval architecture, R&D, and the EPOC’s. The EPOC’s job is to utilize lead designers in each discipline to develop the overall boat design to meet the specific customer requirements. As a result, the role of the EPOC demands excellent communication skills and organization.
The engineering department as a whole is encouraged to promote dialogue with production, sales, and
customers that results in constructive feedback for product improvement.
Applicants should be familiar with design software including SolidWorks and AutoCAD with minimum 2 years of working experience. Additional skills would be Project Management experience, familiarity with Google Docs, experience using Solidworks Simulation.
Basic knowledge of MRP system and Product data management tools would be considered an asset
