CAD Technologist to join our
Transportation Highways and Roads Engineering department, located at our
Vancouver or
Township of Langley office. Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Highways & Roads Engineering, this position will be responsible for preliminary and detailed design of roads & highways, CADD drawing preparation, checking of designs and drawings, preparation of specifications, and other related activities.

•Administer design standards, train and mentor junior staff;
•Report preparation;
•Cost estimating;
•Preparation and review of drawings;
•Contract specifications / documentation;
•Contract administration service;
•Liaise with all discipline members, sub-consultants, clients, and agencies; and
•Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to WSP ... •Undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university or Technologist from accredited college;
•Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is desirable;
•Project experience using AUTOCAD and Civil 3D;
•Experience with all aspects of highway / freeway design (e.g. alignments, geometrics, staging, utilities, roadside safety, documents, constructability);
•Ability to work with various software packages (i.e. Civil 3D, CAD, Microstation, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Project and Power Point);
•Experience with technical writing, minute preparation, etc.;
•Ability to estimate design level of effort, meet milestone schedule deliverables, etc.;
•Understanding of highway design & traffic engineering principles;
•Ability to communicate with a wide range of sub-consultants;
•General understanding of other road design requirements (e.g. drainage / hydraulic design, environmental design / mitigation measures, engineering surveys, geotechnical investigations and design);
•General understanding of QA / QC as well as OH&S practices / requirements;
•Familiarity with TAC and BC Supplement to TAC design standards;
•Alternative Delivery (DB, P3, etc.) projects experience is an asset; and
•Strong communication and organization skills
