Surrey Police Service has an exciting opportunity for a Database Analyst to join the Investigations Bureau unit. This position will be critical as SPS (Surrey Police Service) builds out the information technology infrastructure and support systems to better connect and protect our police officers through our state-of-the-art IT systems and solutions, on our road to police of jurisdiction.

Reporting to the Manager, Information Management and Technology, our successful candidate will apply their database management talents by accessing and allocating database resources for optimum configuration and performance; performing backups and recovery; configuring database parameters and prototype designs against logical data models, defining data repository requirements, data dictionaries, and warehousing requirements. In addition, the Database Analyst supports multiple services and databases of medium to high complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data.

This role will require strong communication skills, including an ability to write IT procedures, reports, and documenting business processes and policies. In addition, a person in this role will also need to be comfortable with presenting recommendations to various senior management audiences and key stakeholders at a business level of communication. Finally, providing oversight, communicating work procedures and mentoring junior IT employees may be required as needed.

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Management, or related field by a recognized educational institution supplemented by 2 or more years of related work experience in similar position preferably within a policing and/or public sector organization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Candidates with Microsoft SQL Server experience will be given preference, however experience with additional database technologies will be an asset.

This position is unionized represented by CUPE Local 402. The salary range for this position is $50.37/hr-$57.13/hr based on 2022 Rates.
