Using predictive analytics and truly huge amounts of device and digital service usage data we aim to understand our customer pain points, eliminate defects and predict emerging issues on a daily basis.

The Device, Digital & Alexa Support - Analytics team is looking for Data Scientists excited to collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Research Scientists, and other Data Scientists to spearhead innovative solutions increasing Amazon's ability to personalize Customer Service. As a successful data scientist, you need to deeply understand customers and how best to support them. You will identify specific and actionable opportunities to solve existing business problems. You need to be a sophisticated user of advanced quantitative techniques for answering specific business questions, and an expert at synthesizing and communicating insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Translating business questions and concerns into specific quantitative questions that can be answered with available data using sound methodologies. In cases where questions cannot be answered with available data, work with engineers to produce the required data.
  • Retrieving, synthesizing, and presenting data in a format that is immediately useful to answering specific questions or improving system performance.
  • Applying statistical or machine learning knowledge to solve specific business problems.
  • Support Research Scientist in data exploration, feature identification, model optimization and performance monitoring
  • Building decision-making models and proposing solutions for the business problem you defined
Conducting written and verbal presentations to share insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication


    • Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, economics or related field
    • 5+ years of direct experience in quantitative research or analyses
    • Excellent communication skills to share findings in an understandable and actionable manner
    • Experience with one or more of the following tools: - Python, SAS, R or other statistical software packages - SQL or comparable data querying packages - Advanced Excel skills
    • Ability to develop new ideas and creative solutions.
    • Ability to work successfully in a dynamic, ambiguous environment.
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads


    • Master's Degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science or Mathematics
    • Broad knowledge of basic statistics and statistical interpretation of quantitative data
    • Experience in data mining, SQL, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.
    • Strong fundamentals in problem-solving, algorithm design and complexity analysis.
    • Knowledge of business intelligence reporting tools (OBIEE, Business Objects, Cognos, Tableau, or MicroStrategy).
    • Understanding of Design Of Experiments.
    • Experience with AWS or other cloud based technologies.
    • Knowledge of R, Python or other statistical modelling languages/ toolboxes.
    • Excellent speaking-listening-writing skills
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion.
    • Excellent written / oral communication and interpersonal skills.
