Role Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Data Science, we are looking for a highly skilled and adaptable Data Scientist to join our team. This position fits a "full stack" Data Scientist who thrives in statistical modeling and machine learning and has the ability to deploy solutions and operate mature MLOps workflows.

The successful candidate will lead data science projects end-to-end, including data exploration, model building, deployment, and production monitoring. Expertise in industrial sectors such as processing and mining is highly valued. Strong communication skills are critical to effectively share insights, educate participants, and highlight the benefits of the developed solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Build, develop, and deploy machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions in production environments.
  • Implement and maintain robust MLOps workflows, including experiment tracking, model versioning, and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to understand business challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions.
  • Collect, process, and analyze large-scale datasets from diverse sources using modern data engineering practices.
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of data pipelines and deployed models.
  • Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical collaborators, providing actionable insights and educating on solution mechanisms.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve models based on feedback and evolving business needs.
  • Know the latest new technologies and guidelines in data science, machine learning, and industrial analytics.

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or another quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data science, demonstrating strong skills in machine learning and statistical modeling.
  • Practical experience in deploying ML solutions and applying MLOps techniques (e.g., CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, experiment tracking).
  • Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency with ML frameworks (Scikit-learn).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure) and containerization (Docker).
  • Solid understanding of data development principles and distributed systems.
  • Experience in industrial sectors like processing and mining is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in agile teams and adapt to fast-paced environments.
  • Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and a strong sense of urgency to progress towards impactful outcomes.

Pay Range: CAD $105,000 - $130,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
