As a result of our continuing growth, we are currently looking for a seasoned COMPLIANCE MANAGER. 

Reporting to the Director of Program Management and Compliance, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that new and existing products are designed to meet all of the safety and compliance requirements for the global markets where our products are sold.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Own and manage the validation and compliance testing and certification of the company new product development (NPD) activities

  • Actively participate in planning and testing resource management (personnel, equipment, internal/external facilities) regarding the active and planned portfolio of NPD activities

  • Manage and communicate the schedule; stay on top of activities and proactively highlight concerns and conflicts in a timely fashion

  • Hands on (working manager) - plan/execute/report writing as needed

  • Lead a team of seasoned compliance engineers and test engineers

     

     Serve as the companies’ internal Standards and Regulations subject matter expert

  • Monitor and absorb all relevant standards including but not limited to UL/CSA, CE, FCC, Telcordia GR…, etc.

  • Identify and forecast industry trends and pending regulations that may impact the companies product success or other business needs

  • Guide NPD teams in interpreting compliance standards and customer requirements and define specific wording of requirements, validation means, and pass/fail criteria

  • Proactively resolve any and all ambiguity or conflict with respect to compliance and validation requirements, applicable testing/simulation/calculation procedures, and pass/fail definition and measurement

  • Mentor and train subordinates and engineering staff with respect to the above 

                                                                                                                                                                         Serve as the companies’ external-facing industry liaison regarding all things compliance: 

  • Identify, contact, build and maintain successful working relationships with peers at key customer accounts; specifically with decision makers regarding acceptance of the companies products

  • Identify, contact, build and maintain successful working relationships with peers at key regulatory agencies and testing facilities that are used by company to obtain product compliance certification

  • Proactively engage with external bodies and negotiate compliance-standards-related interpretations and rulings favorable to company business interests

  • Establish and maintain shared certification programs 

     

    Drive improvements in both efficiency and effectiveness via: 

  • MINIMIZE the amount of testing required by MAXIMIZING re-use, proven building blocks, verification test results, calculation, simulation, DOE, compliance-by-similarity arguments, etc.

  • Develop and implement standard/flexible/modular/connectorized/automated/etc. test equipment and setups to MINIMIZE testing setup/teardown

  • Build and update a product-family-specific library of template/default test plans, test reports, compliance reports, etc. to MINIMIZE non-value-added documentation activities

  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and calibrated 

     

    Credentials & Experience: 

  • Minimum education level is a Diploma (prefer Bachelors degree) in a relevant technical subject area.

  • Minimum professional experience in product safety or regulatory compliance positions of 5 to 8 years.

  • Experience with product validation testing, and agency certification.

  • Successfully taken products through CSA, UL, FCC/IC, CE and NEBS testing & certification.

  • Knowledge of international standards organizations and requirements would be an asset

  • Candidate with strong power electronics engineering background highly preferred.

  • Detail-oriented and passionate about digesting complex documents.

  • Self-driven and able to manage and clearly communicate plans and priorities

  • Ability to motivate and excite others 

     

    This is a fulltime position

    Salary is open depending on experience
