CNC Programmer Machinist

Position: CNC Programmer Machinist

Purpose of the Job

The CNC Programmer Machinist is responsible for the machining process definition and implementation of processes in production for ongoing projects.


1.  Industrialization of on-going projects (80%)


  • Concurrent engineering
  • Defines or re-defines a machining process according to Methods AQI, defined targets and customer specifications
  • Defines and seeks approval for process changes
  • Chooses cutting tools and machining strategies
  • Writes specifications (VO) for CAM engineers
  • Follows the trial runs of new NC-tapes and manages feedbacks
  • Compiles technical files
  • Helps other to solve technical problems

2.  Follow up of technical improvements

  • Develops calculators and technical helps for the Manufacturing Engineers
  • Together with Senior ME’s; elaborates new machining strategies with proven performances
  • Tests and validates standard way of working (VO, cutting tools, strategies) for the department

3.  Gives support to other departments/plants

  • Provides technical support to subcontracting
  • Provides estimations to Bidding cell
  • Helps in concurrent engineering
  • Delivers technical support on demand

Profile Know How and Experience

1.  Education

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equal by experience

2.  Skills/Experience

  • Good knowledge of industrial development :
    • milling techniques
    • CNC machines
    • cutting tools
    • metal machining (steel, titanium, aluminium)
  • IT knowledge:
    • CATIA V5 (consulting)
    • Vericut (Cgtech),
    • Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Programming Skills
    • SPC
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills
  • Open to occasional travel
  • Communicative
