What's Bench? Check us out in Fintech Impact, Perkins + Will, Daily Hive, BC Business, our Instagram, and our Blog.

We acknowledge that Bench headquarters is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

We're a committed and talented group of diverse people working hard to solve a real, universal problem for millions of entrepreneurs: businesses need to understand their financial performance, but for many smaller ones, this means a trade-off between doing their books and running their businesses. Bench solves this dilemma by taking bookkeeping off of their hands. We've paired smart humans with incredibly powerful software to develop the fastest, most efficient bookkeeping service in history. This lets us provide monthly and yearly financials at an incredibly accessible price, giving business owners the time, confidence, and knowledge they need to be successful.

Bench is growing fast. Recently, we've onboarded our 9000th client and our 500th employee. We have a clear, funded path to profitability, and a roadmap that we believe will rapidly accelerate the trajectory of our business. We're looking for the brightest minds who love solving tough problems to join us on this incredible journey, in pursuit of bringing financial mastery to our clients.

What does the Client Relief Team look like?

Bench is obsessed with positive client outcomes, and the Client Relief Team was built to ensure our clients are getting the best possible service and results for their business in the face of this rapidly evolving economic landscape. The Client Relief Associates are our in-house experts responsible for researching and synthesizing complex financial information, ranging from US pandemic related financial aid, cash flow management, and tax, in order to provide guidance to our internal teams, and help our clients achieve mastery of their business.

What you'll be getting up to:
  • Participate in the creation and iteration of a new service line designed to provide our clients support on complex financial situations, which includes:
    • Research and preparing answers for the most common financial questions our small businesses clients face, including the financial relief landscape within the US
    • Codifying best practices within Bench's knowledgebase
    • Providing internal support, including training and education, to our Benchmates on best practices
    • Regular client facing engagements via phone and/or email; providing guidance, recommendations, and complex calculations
    • Cross departmental coordination and communication in an effort to deliver on the above
  • Support in the creation of webinars, blog content, and other client facing resources
  • Lots of other things we don't yet know about but will adapt to on the fly!

To be successful in this role, you must:
  • Be client obsessed: You can understand and empathize with our clients' circumstances, and you act as an advocate on behalf of their businesses.
  • Master information synthesizer: You'll need to digest Government guidelines and financial theory framework-and become fluent in them. As a subject matter expert, you can thoughtfully communicate complex subject matters to our clients.
  • Thrive in collaborative, fast-paced environments: You are comfortable working with cross-functional stakeholders and balancing priorities. You'll be working in a team that is designed to learn quickly and constantly adapt to new and ambiguous circumstances.
  • Have startup hustle: You are highly motivated, dedicated, comfortable with change, and ambiguity. You have a humble, team-player attitude and are ready to pitch in wherever you are needed most.

You'll thrive as a Client Relief Associate if you:
  • Independent with a bias towards action -You are a self-starter who is comfortable taking action where there won't always be clarity. You have good judgement and always push things forward.
  • Love diving into complex financial matters - You have experience supporting clients, on complex financial matters and when you don't have an answer you do your homework and come back to your clients with direction.
  • Set the bar high - You have a high sense of ownership about your work product and high performance standards. You are not satisfied with mediocrity, and are always looking for ways to consistently improve.

The extra details:
  • This is a full-time permanent position because we want to spend lots of time with your wonderful self!
  • This position offers an annual salary and an extended benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision.
  • Our office has gone fully remote! We'll set you up with everything you need to work from home, from day one.

We believe that unchecked biases disproportionately impact the most marginalized people in society-including but not limited to BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+ people, immigrants, and people with disabilities. We strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or other marginalized communities because we believe that without you, we are all less. At Bench, we don't stand for tokenism. We stand for representation.
