The Category Manager, Outsourcing will lead and build out the outsourcing manufacturing category while managing the business partnerships between STEMCELL and its key CMO partners. You will lead cross-functional efforts to identify and onboard STEMCELL's global manufacturing partners and will manage internal and external facing procurement activities including facilitating collaboration on initiatives to reduce manufacturing and supply chain risks and resolving quality and commercial issues. You will represent procurement in new product introductions and drive effective business decisions while working closely with STEMCELL's internal teams to develop and realize STEMCELL's long-term global outsourcing strategy.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as an ambassador of Procurement both externally as well as within STEMCELL and represent Procurement in cross-functional meetings/projects
  • Work within the Procurement team to improve existing functions and to develop new areas of responsibility
  • Lead campaigns with internal stakeholders for strategic sourcing, selection and onboarding of Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs and CMOs), conduct routine evaluation of global outsourcing capabilities
  • Proactively identify areas of supply risk (demand, supply, quality, environmental and business continuity) and work with CMO partners and internal stakeholders to develop and implement risk management strategies
  • Implement supplier partnership management principles for outsourcing partners
  • Work with internal stakeholders and outsourcing partners on quality and supply agreement negotiations, operationalize contracts by ensuring adherence to contract commitments by all parties

Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in relevant discipline (preferably Biological Sciences or Chemistry)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a procurement, sales, supply chain, program or project management discipline
  • Biology/Chemistry background or experience working in a biotech environment will be considered a strong asset
  • Strong business analytical skills and comfort with identifying data needs and sources (extensive experience with Microsoft Excel is an asset)
  • Experience in supply negotiations is an asset
  • Excellent facilitation and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex objectives under stringent timelines
