At BC Cannabis Stores, there is a wide variety of full- and part-time career opportunities in our retail stores including:
  • Store Manager

  • Cannabis Consultant

The Cannabis Product Consultant (Auxiliary) within the LDB cannabis stores are the first point of contact in developing customer relationships and are the cannabis subject matter experts for both customers and staff. The successful results of these relationships are loyal life long customers who base their purchasing decisions on the suggestions of our Cannabis Consultants.

The person in this role must demonstrate a passion for transferring the knowledge of, and selling of, cannabis products. This role requires an individual who has excellent communication skills, is energetic, and has a willingness to learn, train others and achieve results.

Please note: Auxiliary Cannabis Consultants are expected to be available for daily recall.

Education and Experience:
A minimum of one year of recent (within the last five years), related experience working in a sales environment with a high level of customer interaction is required.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Basic cannabis knowledge demonstrated through experience in the cannabis industry or through courses from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Experience in a retail environment.
• Experience working with a computerized retail system, including Point of Sale and Inventory Management applications.
• Demonstrated proficiency in delivering an Omni-channel/consumer experience.
• Diploma or certificate in business or a related field.
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Auxiliary positions are on-call, which means that hours of work are not guaranteed and will be subject to availability. Initially, you may not work a full 35-hour week. As you work more hours, you'll gain more seniority, allowing more opportunities for more hours of work. An auxiliary position is not a permanent full-time position.

About BC Liquor Distribution Branch

In British Columbia, there are two branches of government that have responsibility for the liquor industry: the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch (LCLB) and the Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB). Both of these branches currently report to the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. The LCLB issues licences for making and selling liquor and supervises the service of liquor in licensed establishments. The LDB, under the authority of the Liquor Distribution Act, has the sole right to purchase beverage alcohol, both in and out of British Columbia, in accordance with the Importation of Intoxicating Liquors Act (Canada). The LDB is responsible for the importation, distribution and retailing of beverage alcohol in British Columbia. The LDB with over 3,500 employees operates approximately 200 government liquor stores throughout the province; two distribution centres, one in Vancouver and one in Kamloops; and a head office facility in Vancouver. The LDB also authorizes the sale of liquor in rural communities by Rural Agency Stores. The LDB was named one of BC's Top 50 Employers by for 2009 by Mediacorp Canada Inc.
