Role Overview

Collaborating with the Lead, Enterprise BI, the Business Intelligence Developer is primarily responsible for supporting the enterprise reporting platform, developing and maintaining existing data solutions, pipelines, and warehouses, and working with Solution Owners, Architects, Business Analysts, and other partners to support the Data Ecosystem Program.

This is a full-time temporary, 24 month term position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Manage all areas of the Power BI cloud and on-premise report server platforms, including tenant administration, premium capacity usage, git integration, report deployment, troubleshooting user issues, gateway upgrades, and report server upgrades.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reports, dashboards, and semantic models in Power BI.
  • Build data pipelines, automations, scheduled refreshes, and flows using Power Automate, Powershell, and Power BI/Fabric API.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouses
  • Troubleshoot and maintain existing reports and data pipelines for performance and data quality.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to support ad-hoc data analysis and data ingestion for reports.
  • Analyze business requirements and design the appropriate reporting solution(s) to meet the needs of business users. This may be project-based and/or ad-hoc report requests, and includes developing, implementing and working closely with the business to ensure the success of the solution.
  • Works with Business Stakeholders on the identification of information needs and the development of analytical dashboards in Power BI. Skills in rapid prototyping to increase end-user and collaborator involvement is key.
  • Continuously improves and enforces Data Governance, Tools and Standards for use throughout the enterprise, while seeking alignment of BI & Analytics Enterprise.
  • Document and submit deployment requests for production releases in collaboration with other teams.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in BI development with a proven track record in developing reports/dashboards, data models, and data pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Spanish language skills are a plus
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Power BI Service, Power Query Editor and Power Automate
  • Solid understanding of advanced DAX formulas, Power Query M for data transformations, and data modelling guidelines (eg: star schema vs snowflake).
  • Advanced SQL skills - query optimization, stored procedures, and database design
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI (including tenant administration), Fabric, Databricks, and associated components.
  • Experience with Git and source control guidelines
  • Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data privacy standards.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills, able to articulate in writing detailed specifications for the different types and levels of audience.

  • Committed to ensuring the privacy of information regarding employees and third-parties.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities in English; proficiency in Spanish is advantageous

Pay Range: CAD $95,000 - $118,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
