As Business Consultant - focusing on Product lifecycle optimization and deselection - you will work in collaboration with financial and data visualization experts, multiple cross functional project teams, including Customer & Product Marketing, Sales, Operations, Product Managers, Business Intelligence, and Strategy leaders to ideate and govern viable, scalable, and relevant transformational initiatives that build the 'performance muscle' needed to thrive in today's telecommunication industry.
In this role, you wear several hats: consultant, change leader, influencer, researcher, negotiator, risk remover, and storyteller. You will facilitate our top down 'data driven' prioritization process and help establish, monitor, and govern strategic portfolio streams to interlock and deliver on those priorities across multiple programs.
As a Business Consultant, you're not afraid to dive into the details as required but can easily synthesize and communicate with senior leaders and stakeholders for support. You are a pragmatic, no-nonsense team member that enjoys complex business problems. Your counsel is equal parts consultation and strategy. You have a natural curiosity and you appreciate that failure and vulnerability are healthy ways to learn and grow. What You will do
•Support Product Management activities related to products at the end of their lifecycle and ensuring we are optimizing their value to TELUS
•Lead a range of analytical and governance activities related to deselection of products that are not aligned to TELUS' future state strategy
•Provide governance oversight and interlock to understand and assist in the resolution of challenges, recommend opportunities, and ensure execution to drive targeted business outcomes
•Facilitate top down 'data driven' prioritization process through data and financial analysis in partnership with our finance and data experts
•Apply strong consulting techniques and skills to succeed in a complex business environment
•Co-develop strategic recommendations that align the outcomes with leadership expectations and standards - quality, risk, communication and staffing
•Interact on a regular basis with multiple project streams, applying exceptional leadership skills in reporting, setting expectations, mitigating risk and removal of roadblocks
•Consult on project assessments (components, timelines, requirements, etc.), assist with securing resources and understanding integrated schedules to ensure timely completion of project components
•Facilitate Change Management processes in collaboration with the Change Management Community of Practice to ensure robust understanding, delivery, and absorption of transformed business models Qualifications:You ideal profile includes
•Analytical, problem identification and problem solving skills; advanced ability to synthesize data to support decision-making
•Knowledge of Marketing, Sales, and Operations, metrics, and processes
•Strong presentation development & delivery skills; ability to develop presentation materials suitable for audiences at various levels and in various settings; excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Excellent project management, change management and facilitation skills
•Knowledge of analytical problem solving techniques, project lifecycle and lean methodologies
•Financial analysis and business case development experience, particularly cash flow improvement tactics and building a total cost of ownership view
•Experience tailoring and adjusting the implementation of process improvement techniques (LSS, Lean, Kaizen) based on the organizational needs and environmental factors
•Solid understanding of TELUS business systems, including billing (CORE, SIMS, CRISS) and the financial data mart (RTE)
•Nice to have will include inventory management systems (FMS, SMA) Great to haves
•Bilingualism in French and English - oral and written fluency in both languages
•Knowledge of 3rd wave product and service development processes
•Deep knowledge of and extensive experience supporting change management
•Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid Project management methodologies, principles & practices
•Background in network products, services (wireless/fixed broadband, telecom and non-telecom IT offerings and system/platforms) for context on multi-mapping of migrations or decisions for product state for the customer base
•Strong knowledge of wireless / fixed broadband, Telecom and non-Telecom IT applications, systems, platforms and services
•Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB), Prosci Change Management Professional (CMP), Kaizen (Own.It) certification
•Engineering, IT or related technical degree with MBA preferred, or MBA with strong technical background and demonstrated experience/competence working with IP, wireless and related technologies, or 10+ years business background in a technology industry with relevant experience in a product management or development role
