The number of stack products being developed and maintained by T&PD Commercial Stack Programs is growing and as a result there is a need for an additional Assistant Program Manager (APM). The duties of this position include assisting with the execution of the various plans for the programs, tracking and reporting on the budgets and expenses for the programs, and helping to coordinate different activities/projects to achieve specific deliverables.

The candidate will interface with various functional teams within the organization and is vital to have strong communication and people skills. This position requires an individual with the drive and passion for product development and project management. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of fuel cell technical knowledge, basic principles in project management, product development experience, and good time management skills.

  • Tracks and reports on program budget status and any variances
  • Attending weekly project meetings taking minutes, managing Open Points Lists (OPLs), addressing issues, and driving the teams to complete tasks and achieve milestones
  • Monitoring, updating, and communicating program schedules
  • Build Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify deliverables, estimate resources (FTEs, MSS) and timeline to complete
  • Coordinate, track, and forecast the resource demands for the programs
  • Routinely extracting data from ERP software to update budget tracking files for total and functional FTEs and MSS
  • Work with functional managers on the monthly resource planning process
  • Coordinates and tracks any changes related to the activities of each program
  • Oversees the development of work packages (with other members of the core team) of new and existing activities, identifying and documenting main deliverables and corresponding timelines
  • Assist tracking and highlighting key quality related activities and issues directly related to the programs
  • Support resolution to customer, manufacturing, and/or supply chain issues that arise
  • Assist identifying, determining, and documenting risks and issues which might affect the program
  • Maintaining and updating program risk registers
  • Recording and documenting Lessons Learned for the programs
  • Routinely extracting data from a Product Lifecycle Management platform to assist with Change Requests (CRs) and Change Orders (COs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Quality Change Requests (QCRs) tracking and reporting
  • Make decisions and recommendations on issues surrounding the programs or projects
  • Support program reporting in various weekly, biweekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings related to stakeholder and management updates and quality issues
  • Supporting Annual Operating Plan (AOP) development by helping to defining scope, schedule, and budget for various projects and programs
  • Other duties assigned as needed

  • B.Sc. degree in Engineering Physics, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or related Engineering program
  • At least 3-5 years of product development experience
  • Previous experience in Project Management is preferred
  • Experience with fuel cells (unit cell, MEA, stacks) would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work well under pressure and react to changes in project scope and timelines
  • Strong conflict resolution skill
  • Fast learner with attention to details
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as structured problem solving (8D, root cause, IS/IS NOT) and DFMEA
  • Thorough experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Professional proficiency of Chinese Language would be considered an asset
