Assistant Manager, Engineering and Maintenance (Operations & Facilities)

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior E&M Manager, the incumbent will work and oversee a technical team who will support ongoing equipment and facilities activities, writing/reviewing equipment documents and procedures, partaking in equipment installation activities and will provide technical guidance and support within the facility. Equipment and systems will be located in a clean-room facility that will be purpose built for production of a sterile pharmaceutical product. The incumbent works well within a fast paced work environment and enjoys collaborating closely with other stakeholders to ensure the success of the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of production equipment, ensuring safe operation of all equipment and systems, working in collaboration with the Quality and Production team
  • Read and interpret blue prints, technical drawings, and equipment schematics
  • Perform Risk Assessment of the work area in support and development of safety protocols and best practices; be the champion of safety
  • Assist in development of Standard Operating Procedures and preventative maintenance plan
  • Oversee execution of planned PM’s on facility and production equipment
  • Investigate and problem-solve equipment failures, including diagnosing the root cause, method of repair, scheduling of repairs etc.
  • Responsible for team operational budget forecast and management
  • Ensure strict implementation of company policy, SOP and GMP regulations.
  • Support the construction of upcoming projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Technical certification or qualification in a related field or equivalent in experience and/or in combination
  • Must have 5+ previous experience working in a GMP manufacturing environment with 2+ years in a similar role
  • Must have 4th Class Power Engineering certification
  • Hands on experience in commissioning, qualifying, and maintaining facility and production equipment
  • Solid analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented individual with highest standard of quality
  • Practical experience in budgeting and familiar with tendering process
  • Self-motivating individual who takes ownership of their job
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate and interact with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaborate in a team environment.
  • Time-management and organizational skill is a must
  • Generates results by acting in a focused way and within the deadlines; ability to handle multiple deadlines and heavy workload
