Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster is an industry-led innovation consortium centered in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Supercluster brings together small, medium-sized and large companies, post-secondary institutions, research and not-for-profit organizations, enabling them to collaborate in ambitious technology projects that will innovate the natural resources, healthcare and industrial sectors. The Supercluster then co-invests and supports these projects, managing investments provided by the Government of Canada and the public and private organizations which constitute its membership, with the ultimate goal to position Canada as a global leader in innovation and digital technologies.

What is a Supercluster?

A supercluster is an innovation hotbed that is home to strong industrial clusters, linked through their shared reliance on specialized inputs, including technologies, talent and infrastructure. Superclusters offer strong and numerous linkages across sectors, and between private companies, public entities, post-secondary institutions, and research and government partners. Superclusters create a strong brand and competitive advantage that translates into global recognition and impact, the ability to attract talent and investment across highly innovative industries, and exceptional performance, including an outsize impact on job creation and GDP.

Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster is a proud member of a national network of five Canadian, industry-led innovation superclusters. Over the next five years, the federal government has committed to investing up to 950 million dollars in its five superclusters to drive major economic, social and industrial benefits for the country.

What Makes a Successful Administrative Assistant (AA) ?

  • Always Discreet:  A successful AA shows excellent discretion in all communication .  An AA never makes thoughtless comments about anyone or about the Supercluster.
  • Integrity:  A successful AA must know right from wrong and be fully invested in doing the right thing at all times.  Failure to do so could severely damage the reputation of the Supercluster or our team.
  • Organizational Skills: A successful AA will bring order to chaos. They have streamlined procedures in place. Everything they need is at their fingertips.
  • Focused: An AA’s role involves regular and  onstant interruption. They must be able to juggle numerous projects and even after being pulled away from a task repeatedly, must be able to return to it and get it finished on time.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Office Manager, the Administrative Assistant will provide competent administrative support in a well-organized and timely manner. Under the direction of the Office Manager, the AA will work on a one-to-one basis with various members of the Supercluster team, fulfilling a variety of tasks related to the administration of the Supercluster office and the needs of the leadership team. In particular, the AA will:

  • Support the CFO, CTO and VP, Government Relations and Public Affairs by scheduling meetings and appointments, providing reminders, updating calendars and arranging travel
  • Support the Office Manager in the coordination of internal and external events and meetings and addressing administrative needs of the Supercluster team as directed by the Office Manager.    

 Experience and Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an Administrative Assistant role
  • Able to prioritize and make routine decisions independently
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment
  • Highly motivated, proactive, adaptable and enthusiastic. Tact, discretion and a positive mindset are key to success in the role.
