Accounting Manager – Public Practice

Overview

Our client is a boutique, multi‑partner public practice firm seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead assurance and compilation engagements while remaining hands‑on with file preparation. This role is ideal for a CPA who enjoys balancing leadership, client interaction, and technical work in a collaborative, close‑knit environment.

What You’ll Do

Manage assurance and compilation engagements from planning through completion, ensuring high‑quality working papers and financial statements.
Prepare and review year‑end files, including working papers, notes, and supporting documentation - this is a hands‑on role.
Support and mentor junior and intermediate staff through coaching, workflow guidance, and technical review.
Communicate directly with clients to resolve issues, gather information, and provide professional advice.
Collaborate with Partners on deliverables, deadlines, and opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.

Qualifications

CPA designation (or near completion) with strong public practice experience.
3–5+ years in assurance/compilation, including file preparation and review.
Experience supervising staff or leading engagements in a public practice environment.
Strong technical knowledge of ASPE, working papers, and tax compliance fundamentals.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
