Burke Recruiting is working on a confidential search for a well-established professional services company based in downtown Vancouver. This is a stable, long-standing organization with a collaborative team, strong employee retention, and a business that supports complex technical projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an intermediate accounting professional who is looking to grow beyond routine accounting and develop stronger project, reporting, systems, and business-facing skills over time.

The role will work closely with the Controller, CFO, project leaders, and internal teams. The successful candidate will bring solid accounting fundamentals, strong attention to detail, curiosity, and the communication skills needed to work with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

* Support project accounting, billing, reporting, and financial tracking for professional services projects
* Assist with project setup, project updates, invoicing, closeout, and related documentation
* Prepare and review reconciliations, journal entries, working papers, and month-end support
* Monitor project hours, budgets, milestones, billing terms, and financial information
* Support AR follow-up, billing accuracy, and project-related reporting
* Work with project leaders and internal teams to resolve questions, exceptions, and discrepancies
* Help maintain accurate data in accounting and project systems
* Support process improvement, reporting improvements, and system enhancements over time
* Assist with audit, tax, compliance, and other accounting requirements as needed
* Learn the business and grow into broader accounting and project finance responsibilities

**What We’re Looking For**

* 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
* Strong general accounting knowledge, including GL, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end, and financial reporting support
* Experience in professional services, engineering, architecture, consulting, project-based environments, or similar would be an asset
* Project accounting, billing, WIP, job costing, or project tracking experience would be helpful
* CPA enrollment or intention to pursue CPA is preferred
* Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting or ERP systems
* Experience with Deltek, Vantagepoint, Microsoft Project, or similar systems would be an asset
* Clear and professional communication style
* Ability to work with non-accounting stakeholders and ask good questions
* Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and accountability
* Curious, coachable, and interested in learning the business
* Comfortable in a hands-on, in-office environment
