Talent Day Success Stories: Andreea and iQmetrix

Andreea Petrescu came to Talent Day in February 2017 and met Adam Briglio and the team from iQmetrix, where she’s now working in a QA role. Andreea recently moved to Vancouver, and the Talent Day she attended was the first one she had been to! We asked Andreea and Adam to share their Talent Day experiences with us – keep reading to get a look at Talent Day from both sides!



Please describe your experience at Talent Day.
Andreea: To be honest, I didn’t quite know what to expect from this event because I had never attended one before. I took the time to talk to all the recruiters and representatives, to find out more about what their business activity was and what they were looking for in a potential candidate, and to leave a resume here and there.


What it was like to network and connect with great companies like iQmetrix?
Andreea: Talking to company representatives face-to-face is much more beneficial than just sending in a resume or applying online. I met Adam there at the event and he instantly made me feel welcome and valued. I e-mailed my resume in and they contacted me the next day. I was amazed at how quickly they got back to me and how fast and smooth the whole recruitment process went from that point on.


Now that you’re in your new role, what is life at iQmetrix like?
Andreea: Life at iQmetrix is awesome! Everyone is helpful and they make you feel welcome from day one. They allow you to have autonomy in your work day; no one is breathing down your neck and watching your every move. People work hard but also like to have fun. It really has a warm and casual atmosphere.



What was your experience at Talent Day like while representing iQmetrix? 
Adam: I attended Talent Day back in February. It was my first time participating and “wow,” was it an experience. At times, it got a little over whelming but the quality of candidates were top notch – the candidates that attend are a targeted audience so you don’t get people coming for just the free swag, but to actually learn and network. I not only found it great to meet potential applicants but also as a way to get our name out in the tech community. A good chunk of people hadn’t heard of us before and it was our time to shine and tell people what we were all about. I would recommend Talent Day to any organization who is going through a hiring ramp up.


What’s working at iQmetrix like? Why should people come work for you?
Adam: We pride ourselves on giving autonomy to our employees. We recognize and respect everyone as a professional and responsible adult. People are aware of their accountabilities and they have to own them. We also like to promote a healthy lifestyle with some fun sprinkled throughout your work day. We have a number of in-house company events that promotes everyone getting to know each other. We also have a number of programs that are designed to publicly recognize employees who embody our company values.
